I've got the old tube, a well-used one, with markings only for the 80/4 and
135/4.5. I never look at them, wouldn't miss them if they weren't there.
Besides the two lenses it's marked for, I occasionally use the 38/2.8, and even
some non-macro lenses, and have never felt the need to have any engraving to
inform me of the degree of magnification I have achieved.
Does anyone ever go out with the express intention of taking a photograph at
exactly 1:3, 1:8, 1:15, or whatever? You compose the shot so that the subject
fills as much of the frame as suits you and fire away. Does it really matter
if it was 1:3 or 1:3.5?
