Yes, it could be. But cracked shoes don't seem a result of impact but of
continuous screw pressure on a lesser material whose choice was made on the
basis of the development of the T series - shoes should be inexpensive.
Besides, I do agree with your reasons for unfixing the shoe. I do it for the
same reasons. Would the shoes been made of metal, I bet most users would
unscrew them as well (maybe not so often)
For damaging the prism itself, I suppose a really hard bump should be
necessary (how much distance is there between the housing and the prism? I
don't know) and such an impact may damage other components too or the entire
top cover.
We're about to build the perfect OM2(n) ;-)))
