I am sure you find it a valuable tool and that it gives you more
control of the process. But lots of people are delighted with what they
get from the Epson software. I am just reminded about all the pros in
seminars, on the web and in reviews, who have said for years that
Fractal Designs was the only way to up-size digital files without
quality loss and that it was worth the $500 or so for the product.
Michael Reichmann of Luminous Landscape was one of them. I have to
compliment him that he finally did a side by side evaluation of
different methods with images to see on his site and I could see not
difference between the Fractal Designs up-size and the one done with
the single bicubic interpolation included in Photoshop. Reichmann
thought he could see a slight difference on the print, but nothing of
any significance. Lot of money for little or nothing.
But we are all nitpicky about different things. I was appalled by the
purple aberration on the dpreview test of the Sony 828 and many of the
Canon digicams, but others don't think it is big deal.
