I'm 61. Headed for a trip west in 1963 with my father's Exacta VXIIb.
Ended up at a park bench in Utah with a manual camera I had no idea how
to use. So I sat down with the instruction book, opened the camera
back, and went through shutter speeds and f stops. In about 20 minutes
I had it figured out. It was an excellent introduction to photography.
Graduated from the Exacta to a Canon AE-1, then wanted to get
serious about macro. Looked at Nikon, Canon, Contax, and Olympus, and
settled on an Olympus OM4T because of the breadth of their macro line.
After getting a degree in entomology, I have slowly gotten into
macro work of insects and jumping spiders. Have the 20/2, 38/2.8,
50/3.5 and 80/4 macro lenses, bellows, telescopic extension tube,
extension rings, etc. Will I go digital? Yah, when someone comes out
with an equal to the 38/2.8 and 20/2 lenses. I think that's going to be
awhile.
