They also seem to currently have problems with dealing with the signal
from the sensor. The 7Hi that preceded the A1 shared the same Sony 2/3"
sensor with the Sony 717 and Nikon Coolpix 5700. Minolta just did not
get a handle on the noise and was the worst of the three. With a
picture taken at lowest ISO on a sunny day you could see noise in the
shadows. They attacked the noise on the A1 and got it down, but if you
read the review at dpreview Minolta sacrificed resolution and has other
noise reduction artifacts.
Hopefully that will be solved by the time they bring it to market at
the end of the year and it will be cheap enough to compete with the
other 6 MP cameras. It would be nice to see Minolta back in the game.
