Hi Shawn!
Definitely have it done professionally. It didn't cost me that much.
I just posted about a week ago about how I had good service from Essex Camera
Repair in New Jersey. (It's all of 3 miles from my home) (201) 933 -7272. I
had a 55/1.2 cleaned (fungus) for $50, and my 85/2 which needed a cleaning
anyway, also had grit under the aperture ring and a demaged aperture blade. It
was
totally jammed. They called that a "rebuild". $70. Both were ready in 3
days. They take equipment by mail for estimates, but usually can let you know
what
you're in for on the phone.
Best!

Hello all,
Just thought I'd check in to see how the new list is going, and I'm glad to
see some of the old hands are still around, and that the list is still going
strong. If any of you old timers still recall the early days of the list,
please
post what you know prior to 1997, which is about as far back as my clear
memory goes. It would be nice to have the history info complete for
Thomas et al to post on the new web site, one of the many things I never
got around too. I'm sure the info is in the archives somewhere, but a
decent search is another thing I never got around too...
OOC: Once again, I managed to get fine sand in one of my lenses (damn
those windy west coast beaches ;-), this time my 85/2, one of my
favourites. Should I even attempt to clean this out, or should I send it
out?
