Put rubber gloves on both hands and TWIST.
One time recently, I screwed a polarizing filter onto the front of a rubber
lens hood, and they got stuck, and there wasn't enough of a surface for me to
grip this way, since the outer part of the polarizing filter turns freely. I
had to gently but firmly grab the filter with a large set of channel grip
pliers. I got them apart, but scratched the edge of the filter. (Noth the
glass,
just the edge).

What is the best way to separate two jammed filters without damaging them?
