Related FYI:
A common theme over the past year is a Quest for the Golden film strip
reader/slide scanner equal or better than a N*on at a price of coppers.
(One can dream..........) Saw a note yesterday midst the latest
Apple release notes that Epson is releasing a dedicated film scanner in
Feb with 4800 x 9600 resolution in the $400 range inclusive of rather
sophisticated SW packages. Can not find any details, but perhaps,
just perhaps......

Nope, my New Year's resolution is the same as last year's, 1280x1024.
:-) The effect on proportion is small enough as to not be obvious to
me and it gets more lines on the screen in editors and spreadsheets. I
can go to 1600x1200, but that makes most web sites really off.

You're in the wrong resolution Moose :-P
1280x1024 is 5:4 ratio - proper monitor ratio is 4:3 (1280x960)
My 19"'s native res is 1280x1024 though.
