Dan's recommendations are actually, not that bad. However, they
are a bit redundant. I already frequent a half-dozen forums
that already encompass 90% of the suggestions--and they have
working professionals from other than our narrow scope of
Olumpudom.

This list has generally been like sitting around a "campfire"
where there are multiple conversations going on, but few of them
are about campfires. During the "early days" the list was MUCH
more technical, but it had more to do with the fact that we were
all still in the information gathering and organization stage.
There aren't too many things "OM" that we haven't already
discussed till the mad cows came home.

Maybe this list has outlived its usefulness? Maybe draconian
changes are in order. We've lost the majority of the working
professionals because of the massive amounts of OT discussions.

Maybe it's time that somebody takes on a new project! Something
to contribute to the Olumpus user community. Gary's lens tests
is a classic example of that. ESIF is another such project.
So, instead of complaining about the lack of "new OM content",
we need to create it. This was also a driving force behind
OM-ADITL, Winter/Summer Exchange and TOPE.

Maybe Dan can create the Tripod-Vibration study. He can take
common setups of OM-1, OM-4T, 35/2.8, 50/1.8, 100/2.8 and 200/4
equipment, a resolution chart and go visit camera stores trying
out every possible tripod/head combination using shutter speeds
from 1-sec to 1/500th. I'd allow him to use Ilford PanF. It
would be necessary to repeat the test at full extension and
lowest extension, vertical and horizontal. Maybe repeat the
test with Winder-2 and MD-2. Once he has completed a couple
phases of testing, other list members will gladly help fund the
film budget and even supply him with other lenses, bodies,
accessories and tripods to test.

Shoot, this isn't limited to just Dan. We've got a bunch of
recent retiries with way too much time on their hands.

Does anybody else remember the excitement on this list during
the days of Gary's lens tests?
