[OM] Totally off topic - Computer question

Somehow or another, my computer has picked up a nasty habit.  While on line, 
I will hear a sound that sounds like a door opening and the a little later, 
like one closing.  Does anyone have ideas what it is and/or how to get rid of 
it?  Please don't suggest WD 40.  Bill Barber
