Hi guys,
first of all, a (late) merry christmas and a happy new year to all of
you.
over christmas i was in slovenia for vacation & took my usual gear,
being the 3 zuiko lenses mentioned in the subject, a vivitar 2X-21
teleconverter, and my OM-2. i went there with my GF to visit her
parents, and they showed us around a lot of places (it is a very nice &
interesting country). my main problem was, that i didn't really have the
time to change lenses, being in a group of people who didn't take
pictures. often, i just took the lens i had mounted & tried to get the
best picture i could of the subject. i never even mounted the 135, since
i knew that i couldn't use it in the next picture! after the 3rd frame i
wished i had taken the vivitar zoom that was laying around at home,
covered in dust. (another advantage would have been that i could have
used one of the 72mm polarizing filters, since i don't own a 49mm one.)
now i got to thinking (bad, i know :P):
how does the zoom compare to the lenses, apart from the obvious
advantages/disadvantages (135 over 105, 35-105 over 28:50:135, 28 over
35, 2.8 over 3.5, size, aso., aso..).
how do you change lenses in the field? (i.e., not having all day like i
usually do :P)
i didn't try it, but i guess the vivitar doesn't vignette at 35mm with a
non-thin polarizing filter. also, for "just" travel pictures, i think in
retrospect, i wouldn't have noticed any picture quality difference. (i
also shot the standard agfa & kodak 400 print film, not my usual fp4+)
searching for websites about firework photography for tonight,
