When I bought my P&S didge, instead of a spare, expensive, dedicated
battery, I bought a little external 8xAA battery pack from Andrew
Nemeth in Sydney, which fits in my shirt pocket. Means I can go where
no recharger lives for half the price (not that I have yet, but it's
sooo comforting...) and I always have a few AA's on hand for flashes
and winders and stuff.

When I was looking for a compact P&S digital a couple of years ago,
all the Oly stuff went off the list as soon as I looked at it. Why?
Because the battery setup made them bigger than my target size. The
Can*n S110 I bought was about half the bulk of the Olys. The only
mistake I made? I bought a spare battery and have never needed it.
Camera gives better results than I expected and I've never had any
battery problems. It goes with me when an equivalent spec Oly
wouldn't because of the size.

Isn't the proprietary powerpack a step backward?
Give me AAs, and only AAs....

The C5060Z is a *really* nice camera. It has an excellent, sharp, and
versatile zoom lens, and is abosulutely beautifully constructed, up
to Oly's historical and usual standards. It's probably the nicest
C-series Oly has made to date, and that is saying something. How can
that be in bad taste?
