Interesting, Douglas, i looked at the Giotto small ballhead over in
Victoria and it seemed to be well made and reasonably priced ($US75
equivalent) but too small for what I wanted. hence my original question
about the medium ballhead. I think the medium head is similar in
construction and features to the large head and in the $100 price range.
I'll see if I can find one to check it out in person next trip to the
big city. And I think I'll stick with the plain head. Frankly I can
mount my camera or lens with 4-5 flicks of my thumb and so don't see the
utility of the QR plates for my usage and budget. Or maybe it's because
hanging a big plate on the bottom of an OM kinda seems contrary to the
OM philosophy. In any event if I ever need QR plates i can get the
adapter as you did.
