As far as I know, ethylene glycol does serious liver damage when ingested.
That is why glycol anti-freeze from auto radiators should never be dumped
where cats, dogs etc can get at it and drink it - it kills them.
Glycerine as far as I know is pretty harmless, so should not have caused
any damage to the "seagulls". I'd say they probably had a close brush with
lethal mass poisoning from glycol.
