Just going by what they wrote in the front pages of the current

there is a great story at Rob Galbraith's web site on the first all-digital
article to appear in that bastion of photographic excellence, The National
Geographic. It makes for informative and fascinating reading, even if he
did use a N*k*n! ;-)
Recommended reading, for sure, and at the very least, it *is* about
photography.

This month's issue of National Geographic has the very first article that
is totally digital from the planning stages on. The rest are still film based.
