Thanks John, yup, you guessed it, I presume that as this is normally your
first question I'm not the only dumb-nut to own an OM4. Scant consolation as
like those before me my wallet will have to bare the brunt of my pedantic
requirement to have the darn leatherette looking nice and neat.
It seems that in trying to open the back that the small flanged ring, at the
bottom of the rewind shaft, that pulls on the pressed steel lock mechanism
has slipped out of place. The only way that I can see of relocating it is to
remove the top cover, not a job that I feel able to accomplish.
So unless their is an easy answer I shall send it in for repair.
The camera is in very nice condition but I think it may be an early example,
do you think that as the repair shop will have the thing in there hands that
I should get a full service done?
The other thing of curiosity is the 'updated circuits' question, i.e. is it
worth the investment to have them changed?
Hope I'm not asking too many questions for a new-boy on the list
thanks for the efforts
jon

My usual question is: has someone recently tried to reglue the leatherette
on that body (glue gets in latch mechanism, then back won't open).
