I think the extreme lens claims are marketing hype as well. I use a cheap sharp 12mm Sigma fisheye on my D1 along with a vast array of wide fast Nikkors like 35 1.4, a Tamaron 17 SP and many others with satisfactory results... 12mm? Really? I thought they only made 8 and 16mm Fishes.
