How about just having a half-dozen or so broad categories into which
pretty much anything could fall, rather than narrow it down to door
knobs, bokeh....since when did bokeh become a photographic "subject,"
rather than a much-over-discussed topic of discussion regarding
out-of-focus areas in photographs of other things?
So...
Landscape
Portraiture
Family
Nature
Non-human animals
Urban scene
Sports
Macro
with each having a b&w and color subcategory

Subject: [OM] ( OM ) Tope topics in the future
Hi folks
Here's my 2 cents worth.
The topics we have had so far are as follows
TOPE 1: Self Portraits
TOPE 2: Night Pictures
TOPE 3: Bokeh
TOPE 4: Abstract Photography
TOPE 5: Portraits
TOPE 6: Macro
TOPE 7: Human Society
TOPE 8: Flash Photography
TOPE 9: Landscapes
TOPE 10: Water
TOPE 11: Architecture
TOPE 12: Things that show age
TOPE 13: Black and white photography
TOPE 14: Patterns and textures
TOPE 15: Landmarks
All of these have a great deal of scope for us to exercise our skill and
our
equipment.
I suggest we repeat all of these as a series II, with the possible
exception of
bokeh.
I suggest we develop some specific themes for B&W and have B&W fairly
regularly such as every 5th TOPE; eg
still life,
specific architecture such as doors, stone-work detail etc portrait
abandoned - derelict fire-damage (this one could be difficult) etc
And also some specific kinds that we have not had yet, eg Gates,
doors,
archways,
wild animal,
pets,
farm animals,
arranged flowers,
meals / food,
fish,
fungi,
farm activity,
market activity,
a forest interior,
endangered plant,
sports action,
kids playing,
ferns / fern.
