The honey bees, which are actually European bees and not native to 
America, are being killed off by an invasion of parasitic mites.  
I read recently that if you see a honey bee, you are probably 
within three miles or less of a beekeeper's hives.

As for the spiders, if you've noticed a decline in them, it's 
probably from my spiderphobic wife spraying.  If I'm available, I 
catch them and put them out and/or take pictures of them.  She's a 
stone-cold assassin of anything with eight legs.
