Do remember, Skip, that the author of the review is Chris Gatcum.
Chris is an Olympus user and will probably have been biased. However,
I do agree with you: 95 0s pretty convincing!
My remaining problem is the price. The body will be obsolete within a
couple of years and that is not good economics for an amateur. I am
looking seriously at the new Fuji S7000 - for its price and its
available pixels. Its drawback is that it goes only to 35mm.

No, I thought long and hard about selling the OM stuff before I let it
go. The specialized items and all that flash gear just doesn't get
used enough to keep sitting here. Someone else should put it all to
good use. Back before I had children, I had lots of time to go take
bug and flower pictures to my heart's content. All day, all weekend,
it didn't matter, the time was mine. Now I barely have an hour at
10pm to think about photography, much less trying to fit anything in
between all the house responsibilities and the kids' activities.
I just read the new Amatuer Photographer (U.K. magazine) review of the
E-1 and they really loved the camera, gave it a 95%. They couldn't
say enought good things about the camera and said that it produced the
best images this side of a Canon 1Ds. They particularly mentioned the
less aggressive approach that Olympus seems to have taken regarding
in-camera processing. This jives with continued postings over on
dpreview.com where many shooters have been talking about the
"film-like" characteristics of the images.
I hear it calling.....calling........but not until 2004
Don't forget, I still have two OM bodies and 7 lenses for me to get my
fix with
