An MR-9 adapter may seem a bit pricy for an inexpensive camera, but it
is reuseable in OM-1s and many other photo items of that era. Sure is a
simple solution.
Putting the proper diode in series with the battery can also do the job
of conversion to silver-oxide.

the zinc-air cells? i live in a very dry desert climate, and i've read
they last no more than a month or two in dry areas, at best half a
year in humid area...
