The 4x6 prints were made on a Fuji Frontier. Do they scan and
sharpen 35mm negs or just do a straight print? I've never seen
"edges" like this. Come to think of it, the sky is super saturated
yet I used NPS160 (moderate saturation Fuji portrait film).
Maybe my miracle lens was digitally enhanced.

This is all in the operator settings - I just picked up a roll of
NPS160 from a local Frontier operator and they were nicely - student
artwork and full of rather bright colours but muted. Not the film I
would have normally used but it was in the camera when I started (I
hasten to add). This guy does a lot of pro work so he doesn't over
sharpen or bump the colours to impress the P&S crowd.
As I remember, the Kiron also has a cooler tone than usual so this
may also be a factor. (Note the elegantly split infinitive, list
pedants!)
