In a model example of 1950s efficiency, there were two assembly lines
required by the agreement. One was Toulouse and one Filton.
The design was a heavily modified version of a Bristol concept. The
french
concept was for an even lower capacity aircraft which would have run out
of
fuel somewhere over Greenland.
Parts were made in both countries, and others. The French had a larger
airframe workshare to offset the fact that the Olympus engines were
British.
To get a bit of French claim on the engines, Bristol had to show Snecma
how
to make an afterburner for the Olympus so that they could "design" one
for
Concorde.
