Come on Bill, you need to be careful here, 'cos they all say that :-)
The earlier ones say "MADE IN JAPAN" on the lens flange.
The later (better) ones say "made in Japan" on the front ring.
As a further test:
If "F.ZUIKO" is on the front ring (or "G.ZUIKO" for a 50/1.4), it is an
early (not so good) lens
If "ZUIKO MC" is on the front ring, it is a middle aged (better) lens
If just "ZUIKO" is on the front ring, it is a more recent (best) lens
