I can confirm that the news of the OM to 4/3 adapter is true. Here is an
email I received from John Hermanson - an authorised Olympus dealer and
repair specialist in New York.
"It is made and sold by Olympus, it's an official Olympus product an not
available yet. As I said, if their net price to dealers is accurate, it will
probably sell for under $125. The fact that Olympus has it listed on their
dealer site and have assigned a product number to it, indicates that it will
be a real product."
The parts list on which this adapter is listed is only viewable by
authorised dealers.
Although the ability to use old Zuikos with the E-system is good in
principle, I'm a not sure whether TTL metering at open apertures will still
be possible or whether the DOF prefiew button will have to be held down.
Also, wide angle photography will be rather limited: my widest Zuiko is a
24mm which will give a field of view of close to that obtained with a
standard lens in 135 format.
Cheers,
Duncan.
