Great to hear a photo topic rather than OS religious garbage,
Chuck asked :
>> Are there any options to powering a T-32 with AC other than the AC
adapters 2 & 3? I assume there are suitable transformers available that
will do the trick but how does one handle the three pin connector?
<<
You should be able to adapt most flash HV power supplies like Sunpak etc since
with very few
exceptions they all use the same 330V voltage as T32. To get an Oly adapter
connector, you can buy
a used or new Quantum turbo cable for Olympus. This has the Oly connector on
one end and a Din
audio style connector on the other. To check the voltage of the particular
flash vendor is
correct for Oly, log on to Quantum's site and check that the particular Sunpak
or other flash that
the power supply was designed for, is compatible with the Quatum turbo system.
The Turbo system is
330V, so if the original flash is compatible with Quantum Turbo it should be
ok. All the modern
sunpaks are 330V for example. Some of the Metz's are 360V, for example the
T60's and very,very old
old flashes and studio are often 550V. For example I own a Sunpak Ringflash
that is higher than
330V, although it does not have a external power socket. You only need hook up
the the two hV
pins as long as there are AA cells in the T32 to allow it to switch on the TTL
interface. The T32
then runs in parrallel with the HV supply which supplies the majority of the
power. See Mark's
site for T32 pin-out.
