Equally bright. Maybe 2 stops? I don't remember and the eye compensates
so there isn't much apparent brightness difference with normal lenses
when it is bright out.
Oly must have the best microprism by default, since Beattie does not
have any microprism screens, only plain and split image at 90 or 45 degrees.
The Beatties tend to darken with wide angle lenses where the Olys do not.
I like the 'finish' or grain or whatever, the look of the image, on the
Olys better.
Beatties are fine screens. I like the 2 series Olys better. I have a
plain Beattie and both a 2-4 and a 2-13 Oly.
The 1 series Olys with clear screens that focus only in the central
microprism, the 1-5,6,7 & 12, are also brighter than those with matte
finish. They are more specialized and not to everyone's taste.
Use of any of the above with an OM-1 requires either meter adjustment or
setting a different film speed to compensate for the extra brightness or
you pics will all be seriously underexposed.

I'm wondering, which focusing screen series are brighter (and perhaps
with better microprism)?
The 2 series from Olympus, or the Beatties?
Also, how much brighter over the 1 series are the 2 series? 1 F-stop?
2-fstops? What about the Beatties?
