A big amen on the mileage lie. There are only two of us here now
that the kids have gone, and I suppose we are to be considered
evil and an envionmentally insensitive and a vehicularly
profligate four-car family: two 4WD SUVs and a pair of two-seater
sports cars.
But let's look at the mileage thing. First, we'll take the SUVs.
My Toyota OM-4Runner averages about 19 MPG, while my good lady
wife's Chevy Trailblazer gets nearly 20.
Now for the "little cars": The old 1975 Triumph TR-6 goes about
20 or 21 miles on a gallon (and nearly that far on a quart of
oil), and the Nissan 300-ZX does about the same, except for the
oil, unless pushed to blow off a 'Vette, and then it drinks a bit
more deeply.
The ELF morons who burned the H2 Hummers out in Loonyfornia caused
more pollution from the fire than the burned Hummers would've
created in their entire lifetimes, times two. Now those are real
environmentalists!
And I hate Hummers. Generally, they are owned and driven by
jerks, like Arnold, who couldn't find their ass in the woods with
a flashlight.
