First, I agree with Jim and others, we seem to be showing the effects of the
long, hot summer. Let's hope with the coming of fall, we can all take a deep
breath, elax, and get back to carping on SUV's and guns, where the discourse
was more civil.
Albert, I'm confused. At one point I thought low light hand-held photography
was your reasoning for having the Fuji RF (great cameras, by the way), and
now I see you want something that will slow down your photography as you
think things over more carefully. The 4 photos you refered us to are
uniformly fine, but at the very least, 1 and 3 were shot on a tripod, and
none were shot under what I would have thought of as light low enough to
require a RF camera.
Here's some advice I could use a little of myself: Perhaps what you need to
do is the hardest thing of all; take the camera you have and, like getting
to Carniege Hall, practice, practice, practice. Getting new cameras is more
fun, but hot as productive. Do as I say, not as I do.
Now, to your questions:
> So I was wondering, do you have:
>
> 1) Digital
Not yet. can see it in the future, but considering the investment I
currently have in film cameras, and since where I would supplant/replace
with digital is unclear, now is not the time.
> 2) Medium Format
Have shot Hasselblad for years, now, mostly for clients, but some for myself
as well. Now that I have a wet darkroom at home, will probably use it more
for myself.
> 3) Large Format
Used both 4x5 and a little 8x10 when I worked for the commercial studio, and
some 4x5 at the airplane factory, but haven't since about 1980. Could see
something like a Toyo as a retirement project, though.
> 4) Another 35mm system
Well, you've all heard of my Xpan experiences, all very positive. Love, and
use a lot. Also still use my old Nikon F's a very little, with the 55 and
105 micro lenses. (for the price of a 90 for the OM, I can buy a little over
three 105 micro-Nikkors)
Good luck in your quest. It sounds like a wet darkroom migh have been your
best investment, though.
