I feel dumb answering my own e-mail, but.....I have looked into the 5400 and it
looks promising. Anyone on the list have any experience?

As CH suggested, have a look at the reviews for the Minolta Dimage Scan
Elite 5400 before making your mind up. It is cheaper and may be as
good...
