Some of the recent press (and advice on tech type tv shows) on digital is
getting annoying: you need stabilizer circuitry in the camera to avoid
camera shake, no one mentions using a tripod, leaning to a higher shutter
speed or just plain holding it steady. Never mind that people are taught
to hold the camera a foot away from their face and use the lcd for
composition.
John, don't get mad, get even - let them compare their results to photos
from your antediluvian OMs. ;-)
Most of this hype is put out just to encourage people to buy the newest
model, not to get the best image. Its like the megapixel wars - there
is precious difference between 3Mpix and 4Mpix results, especially when
the pixels are too small for the optics to resolve them. Not all pixels
are the same, but the numbers game used by the media is based on the
false assumption that they are.
Things have got a lot worse over time, of course - in PT Barnum's time
there was just one sucker born every minute, now there are an awful lot
more than that!

A lovely little thinker, but a bugger when he's pissed.
