Daniel,
May I strongly suggest that you adopt a slightly more diplomatic tone
in your emails, in particular that you avoid all-caps messages: they
send such an aggressive message which noone needs.
This list includes a bunch of people, most of whom have been around
for a long time, know eachother well and consider eachother as
friends. We do, in our discussions, tend to drift off into off-topic
chatter -- some of which relates to photography ever so slightly,
some of which doesn't. It is part of the life of the list, part of a
group of people who've been hanging out together for a long time and
part of the fact that we have discussed every single piece equipment
to death and back a gazillion times. We therefore tend to discuss
related issues such as how to apply the equipment in a specific
situation, funny/interresting incidents while photographing, etc.
This lends itself to going OT, which in healthy moderation is fine.
Most often, the OT chatter dies out by itself, occationally, someone
sends a polite, sometimes even funny and occationally sarcastic,
reminder to stick on-topic. However we do never ever yell at
eachother, nor do we resort to name-calling! -- fundamentally
we like eachother and share a common passion for photography. This,
in my humble opinion, is as it should be.
I would like for the list to remain this way. The alternative might
result in some of the best contributers to our little on-line
community disappearing from the list. We cannot have that, since the
list members are exactly what builds this community -- and who build
this community in the first place.
If you, Daniel, or anyone else have any gripes with the list, please
corrspond to the appropriate person: owner-olympus@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
(that's me), and let me try to deal with things in a
non-confrontational way.
Yes, it is OK to yell at me, and I will even accept some
name-calling, just do it in personal emails, and do not take it out
on the list ;)
Most often, getting a little distance and a third persons perspective
is sufficient to make an issue go away, and if not then
owner-olympus@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx is the one to take corrective action. I
believe that such has only been relevant once in this lists history,
and that was in the past, under the tenure of my predecessor.
For the record: Tom Scales and Ag-Schnozz are long-term members of
the list (among many many others), in general good standing and both
providing excellent ressources in each their field to the community.
Please accept, on behalf of the list, my deepest apologies if you
have felt that the list has treated you otherwise.
Now, let's get back to discussing the pros and cons of the 200/4 or
200/5, combined with the 1.4x teleconverter.....
