Good work Jeff,
Like the one with the tower silhouette, I too next year will lengthen
the time exposure and hope to own a Zuiko Zoom 35-80mm/F2.8 by next year
to do the work.
Daniel

Subject: [OM] Fourth of fJuly Photos

I scanned some 4th of July fireworks photos and posted them.
http://www.jeff-keller.com/Photography/fireworks/fireworks.htm

This was the first time I tried taking fireworks photos. I am going to
try a few things differently next year. I'll probably take three bodies
each with its own lens. I definitely need to take more film. I think I
need to leave the shutter open longer. I was too quick to close the
shutter on too many of the pictures.

I managed to snag the rewind knob while moving the lens from one camera
body to the second. Fortunately I only lost half a dozen pictures. I had
loaded up my backup body before it got dark but was getting close to the
end of the roll in my first camera. I only had enough film for about 40
pictures. I also need to look through the camera more often. I must have
bumped the camera. Some of the photos ended up out of focus and the
fireworks were too far to the side.

I had the camera mounted on a collapsed tripod which was sitting on top
of a low wall. I seldom looked through the camera. I would just press
the shutter release when I saw something launched, then release the
button after the explosion had climaxed. I think I should have waited
longer before closing the shutter on a lot of the pictures. I only took
about four rolls of film with me. I used up almost three rolls wandering
around the city before it was dark.

Very fun experience. I believe it was John that posted the recommended
aperture settings. Thank you.
