I've been using a Leki walking stick for some time. I don't know the
model, but it had a wood ball on top that screws off the 1/4-20 tripod
thread stud. I replaecd the ball with a Bogen 3232 monopod head, which
is perfect for the job. The head only has vertical angle adjustment, as
you can simply spin the 'pod for azimuth, with a nice big knob for
tightness adjustment. It's very light and inexpensive and even has a
reversable thumbscrew with both sizes of tripod screw thread.
