Adam:
Here in the Frozen North we just use two of the hand warmers (that run
on lighter fluid) tied together, and wrapped around the body. Have the
lens poke out of your parka, to avoid condensation build-up.
My (1972) Leica manual suggests that the camera be winterized by the
removal of ALL lubricants, and then re-lubricated for normal
temperatures. That seems pretty extreme for anything short of a posting
to the Antarctic.
