Ok, I understand your problem now, I never use such high compression so I
don't seen any problem (I usually use level 9 in photoshop 6 and >95% with
IV). I have made a test with a 10D file, the result is below:
Resample the file from 3072x2048 to 460x307:
IV 3.8 resample, photoshop 6.0 LZW compressed
http://www.accura.com.hk/TEST_IV.tif
Photoshop 6.0 resample and LZW compressed
http://www.accura.com.hk/TEST_PS.tif
Hard to see any different at 300% view.
IV 3.8 JPEG - Compression level 94, file size 69K
http://www.accura.com.hk/TEST_IV.jpg
Photoshop 6.0 compression level 8, file size 68K
http://www.accura.com.hk/TEST_PS.jpg
At 300% view IV is better to my eyes. I think your may try slightly
different compression level, different software may perform differently at
different setting. Anyway I think the different is small and your
compression level used was too high.
