Well, depends. For me, a "proper camera club" is where you meet, go on shoots
together / see how other people approach exactly the same things being shot as
you and all that sort of stuff. It's true that we have TOPE, but we only ever
get to see one another once in a blue moon, if ever.
But then again, where would I be without you guys to advise/chat to and to help
me spend my money!...
Back to the letter... Apparently I get a Sekonic L-308B II lightmeter, however
the mag hasn't asked for my address yet.
Marty asked for a scan of the lette so here goes ... Sorry for the HTML content
but I cannot turn that off. (btw, how are things Marty?, haven't heard from
you for some time)
Too many mistakes in my photographs? No-one to share with or get advice from? I
need to share my hobby with like-minded people! So why not join a club I hear
you ask? What a good idea.
But what do I see when I join:
* Week 1: Slide competition
* Week 2: Black & White competition .
* Week 3: A talk
* Week 4: Inter-club competition
* Etc...
Good grief! If I wanted to compete I'd have taken up swimming or darts. What I
want from a club is to be with like-minded people who share my interest and
passion; who can give me encouragement and advice that I can (hopefully)
reciprocate. I want to join a club that I can go on formal and informal
photoshoots with, where we can later share, enjoy, encourage and uncritically
comment upon our work.
Surely I'm not the only person who takes photos for photos sake. Not with the
sole objective of putting a shiny trophy on the shelf.
So, sad but true. Until I see a club's prospectus that focuses on enjoyment and
relaxation I'm destined to continue to be a loner.
