I just got back from Thailand...

Fun but exhausting trip. My flight got delayed coming back, and so it was 2am when I landed this morning.. I usually take the metro home, but no metro at 2am, and so when I got home and in bed, it was about 3am..

I haven't tallied the total, but I think the unofficial total is 18 rolls. I'll get it developed this week (hopefully).
That said, here's what I brought with me on the trip:

My Om1n (28mmf2.8, 50mmf1.8, 90mmf2.5)
Konica P&S
Olympus (Stylus Epic) (mju II)
Velbon 343 tripod

20 rolls of Reala, 4 rolls of Elite Chrome 100, and 4 rolls of Superia 400.

First, some comments about the Velbon. I love it!! It was incredibly light, fairly sturdy and stable, and without it, I couldn't have taken any night scenery shots. I haven't seen the results, but they should be excellent, and I can guarantee much better than handheld! I have yet to master night photography, as far as metering, as the OM1n's meter is great in the daytime, but pretty much useless at night.

I didn't use my OM all that much. My tour and schedule was hecktic, and so sometimes we were on the run (literally) and I being Thailand was fairly hot, and we got on and off the tour bus quite often, the little Olympus went with me everywhere.. (In the pocket) Someone will have to teach me out to take a pic in a moving boat..

That said, the little Olympus is a dream come true. I used it everywhere, and it was there when I needed it. My gf likes my Konica a lot, and so that's what she used. I'd say, only about 150f the shots were done with my OM, the rest, with the mjuII. That said, I loved the fact that I had a 28mm lens. Because of my focus screen situation, the 28mm looked like a little tunnel, but it didn't matter too much, (or at least less than I expected) as I guessed at the metering most of the time, and with the 28mm, I was shooting all tripod shots of scenery..

Let me say something about tripods and Thailand. I saw a total of 3 tripods in Thailand. The tripod symbolizes "professionalism" (I guess) and so when I had the tripod out, even though there was a sea of people, they parted like the Red Sea for me to take a photograph. Let me go ahead and insert a commercial here. BUY EXTRA BATTERIES. My gf griped about the fact that I loaded up on extra batteries, but wouldn't you know it, all the batteries in all the cameras pooped out, and so I was glad I had extra batteries. Also, as Mr. Murphy guaranteed, they pooped out at the worst of times. I only shot 1 slide roll... and that was from my mju II.. So I will let you all know how that turns out. I hope to make a journal/pictorial out of the trip and stick it on the website. I'll let you all know when I'm finished.

I went to Phuket Island. Beautiful. Although expensive, I paid to get some underwater shots (1 roll, shot on Nikonos) from the tour guide that I went scuba diving with. We'll see how those turn out as well.

Albert
