Maybe you don't need one Mike. If the camera is on a tripod the major
sources of vibration are the mirror/diaphragm mechanism and the shutter
neither of which is helped by having a cable release. On certain OM's
the mirror and diaphragm will prefire with the start of the self-timer
cycle but the OM-2n doesn't do this.
Olympus's recommendations have always been to press firmly on the camera
with your hands and press the shutter button. If you lean into the
camera a little the weight will keep your hands still. Your hands will
also serve as an excellent vibration damper.
You probably will want a cable release for very long exposures such as
on a telescope. Especially when the camera itself is in motion.
However, with a still camera on a tripod and exposures of a couple
seconds or less you might just want to skip the cable release.
