I don't see how a 11MP DC can have the same electronics as a 6MP, not to
mention the 1Ds has much faster response. The price different is a complex
issue, the profit margin on the 1Ds must be higher than consumer models, the
1Ds sell much less so the price has to be higher. There are also
construction different, the mechanical construction of 1Ds is stronger
(weight almost double) with faster shutter and there are a lot others... ok,
the image sensor cost also contribute a big part.

Semiconductor yield goes down and cost goes up with the square (or even
cube) of area. So if there is such a beast, expect it to cost 4-8 times as
much.
That's why you don't see any full-frame 35mm digitals fur under four grand
or so -- the body and other electronics on the 10D and 1D are pretty much
the same, yet the full-frame one costs 6x!
