Our local city councilman's daughter was flying an A-10 "Warthog" (I think
that's the name...) over Baghdad, and came back really shot up. There was a
big picture in the paper and you could see daylight through a *lot* of the
wing and tail. I recall that the pilot's area is armored with a 'titanium
tub' or something... My Dad says that in Vietnam you used to sit on your
flak jacket, so the small-arms fire didn't get you where you sit. He's gone
a bit hard of hearing from flying around in Huey's in 1966 without ear
protection, but at least he can sit.
