I have found the good aspects you mentioned, tend to offset the
weight and expense, at least as far as my own usage goes.
When I am looking through a viewfinder concentrating on doing my
thing, I simply do not notice the weight at all, indeed, the weight
may be beneficial as I get very good results hand held.

The 35-80/2.8 is just
too expensive and heavy to use, it has very high sharpness and
saturated color, gives very pleasing slides.
