I slip the hood on first and fit the filter later. I don't think that
you can make the hood's fitting ring fit onto the slim pola filter -
and if you could the hood would probably cause vignetting.
I think that I should have been more patient; I should have
concentrated on screwing the filter all the way into the lens. I was
saving time because I did not keep the lens, hood and filter on the
camera while it was in my bag. Oh well!

The interference between pola filter and hood was new to me. I cannot
have used the 2 together in the past. The filter is super-slim and
normally gives me no problems alone. The hood is for the 21/3.5 and

normally good. But the filter will not screw in easily to the hood's
thread (because the front of a pola filter is the pola adjustment
ring)
and so I did not screw it home. This must have left it out in the
field of view somewhat.
Chris, Are you using the standard slip on shade? My polarizer's inner
ring has ridges that allow you to easily grip it on but they also
prevent the shade from slipping on. So I either have to get a new pol
or
modify the shade. Your experience makes me think I should modify the
shade.
