I'm not a buyer at Tom's scale, but I have to say that I've found that
most combos of description and photos have delivered pretty much what I
expected when the stuff arrived. Sure, I've had to return the occasional
item or negotiate a price reduction, and I've been mildly burned a
couple of times. On the other hand, I've fairly often be pleasantly
surprised at the item than I would rate higher than the seller did. Of
course, I generally avoid things with no pics or those pics that are
worse than none, check feedback and ask questions, but I think the vast
majority of sellers of Oly stuff are honest. I think the slightly goofy
terms like minty are more a matter of trying to be descriptive while
ignorant of the nicities of serious traders nomenclature than an effort
to be misleading. The net is, after all, the place where odd and often
spurious terms breed and multiply at the speed of light.
