You aren't alone, Skip, Bill. In more than 20 years OM-ownership, I have
only owned 50mm Zuikos - for lenses it has been Tamron SP since 1981, when I
paid more for the 35-80/2.8-3.8 than I had paid a couple of years earlier
for the OM-10+50/1.8! (And I was still using it 2 years ago, when it was
stolen. The replacement cost $100 including cleaning interior elements.) I
would be embarrassed to count how many SP I now have (but I don't have a
180/2.5!)... But they are just too damn cheap nowadays...
Compared to other 'off-brand' lenses I have used, the build quality, feel,
appearance and results are in a different league. Compared to Zuikos, well
I did have a 100-200/5 for a few days, part of a job lot from the auction
site, and I have to admit that it was just *beautifully* made, never mind
the optics... At which point, pls see my response re silvernoses in another
thread!
Piers

I've harped about the quality of Tamron SP glass for years on this list.
It's nice to see someone else back me up. Now I only wish that I could
spring for a 400/4 and a 180/2.5
