I cannot speak for Belgium, but I have had rather steep import duties
added when buying used equipment from outside EU-zone. Since Belgium
undeniably is in the EU-zone, and since the EU members have went to
great length to harmonize their beurocracy (in effect, through
beefing it up to the sum of the burocracy from each individual
country) I suspect that they will suffer the same in Belgium.
I seem to recall that the "petitesse-limit" is somewhere around 20
USD. Anything more than that may be caught, declared, slapped on
customs fee plus, of course, a 100 USD "processing fee" to reward the
burocracy for their kind efforts. Bitter? Me??? Why do you ask? :)
Of course, rules may have changed in the 2 weeks that have elapsed
since I had my last such encounter....
