I think you answered your own question here, Douglas.
If any of the foam is gooey it all needs to be replaced. If you get correct
exposure on slide film in daylight, check it in very
low light too. The 2 lets you take photos under fairly low light so bolt that
puppy down and try an exposure with just the
houselights.
All of these things are covered by a CLA from some repair places if you ask for
them specifically. Other repair places won't get it
right no matter how explicity you state the problems.
Me? I wouldn't touch it.
