How about some nice macro shots of the maggots, too, Walt?

Subject: Re: [OM] Bugging the birds
I have just returned from the neighborhood Birds Unlimited store
where we buy our bird feeding supplies. I wanted to be sure we
had an adequate store of goodies for all the new arrivals that are
peeping in the trees around the house -- wrens, nuthatches,
cardinals, titmice, chickadees, woodpeckers of at least four
different persuasions, blue jays, et al, et al.
They had a big sale on suet dough, usually $2.99 per cake, for
only $1.00 each because--get this--it had BUGS in it! I bought
two dozen cakes of suet dough with live insect larvae crawling
about. Won't the birds be disappointed!
OM content: Once upon a time, I took a lot of bird pictures. It
just got to be too easy. Now that I'm getting older and lazier, I
think I'll take some more.
Walt
