For a rock slide in western Canada of more recent date and one even larger
than the Frank slide, see here:
http://www.sfu.ca/earth-sciences/faculty/NewClague/HopeSlide.htm
The road in the foreground to the right of centre is Highway 3 [the highway
across the Rockies running parallel with and very close to the US / Canadian
border] about 2 1/2 hours east of Vancouver. From the far side of the slide
the highway descends about 3500 feet in about 15km to the town of Hope which
is the eastern end of the Fraser River flood plain which extends to the
coast at Vancouver.
