I was just trying to make clear what the technical issues are and what
possible solutions there may be. The MF part is pure theory to me. The
only MF cameras I've ever owned are TLRs, the first, starting at about
age 5 was a Kodak Brownie 620 film camera and the second a mid 50s
Rolleicord, so I know nothing about the specifics of MF cameras.
With a digital camera, you wouldn't need such a long lens, as you can
view the TTL image and fire the camera remotely, so the camera can be
close to the birds. At least I can do that with my little Can*n S110, so
I assume it's possible with more sophisticated models.

Moose,
I use Pentax 67 cameras extensively for astrophotography, but I have not purchased
the 165/4 LS lens, which has a sync speed of 1/500s. <snip>
